Industry leaders & pioneers headline the conference in January 2020
The Blue Innovation Symposium, 2020’s kickoff networking event for the Blue Economy, today revealed the names of some keynote speakers and sponsors for its conference in January 2020, in Newport RI. This, the fifth edition of the Blue Innovation Symposium, will gather ocean industry leaders, blue tech startups, government officials and key marine tech associations to set in motion a working agenda for the new decade and discuss the conference’s theme: Sensors and the Next Wave of Data.
“We are delighted to announce the participation of some keynote speakers for January, which include Jim Bellingham, director of the Center for Marine Robotics at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), and Olivier Cadet, the president of Kongsberg Maritime US. We also have a growing list of sponsors confirmed, including FLIR, Hydroid, Innovate Newport, and Geospectrum Technologies. This impressive line-up of industry pioneers is indicative of the unfolding agenda planned for January,” according to Tobias Stapleton, Dean of Graduate Studies at Salve Regina University, and one of the founders of the Blue Innovation Symposium.
Attention has focused on the high-caliber keynote speakers as well as the unique nature of the business development aspect of the event. There is no differentiation between sponsors and exhibitors at the Blue Innovation Symposium and this reflects one of its founding principles: to create an environment conducive to networking and, in particular, afford access to emerging startups and technologies.
“Our intention has always been to offer a suite of sponsorship options to fit all marketing budgets. Past sponsors have benefited from exclusive networking opportunities with key industry members, and representatives from the US Navy, the US Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), and Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI),” Stapleton added.
The 2020 event is being organized by Salve Regina University, The Canadian Consulate in Boston, and TSC Strategic, an ocean industries marketing and media agency whose portfolio of publications includes Ocean News & Technology, also known as ON&T.
“Working with a respected trade publication like ON&T has allowed us to broaden our reach this time around and we’ve already seen a piqued interest in the theme for 2020. It’s undeniably an important time for the ocean industry as a whole, but recent advances in sensor technology are breaking new ground in terms of data acquisition. The implications are very real and have clearly piqued interest among our community and sponsors,” according to Justin Manley, President of Just Innovation Inc., and a member of the organizing committee.
